Questions about renting in Novato

You can collect up to two months rent for an unfurnished rental and up to three months rent for a furnished rental.  For most unfurnished rentals we recommend collecting a full two months for security deposit.  Beginning July 1st, 2024 owners may only collect one months rent as a security deposit if they own more than 2 rental properties or more than 4 units total.

Property owners are looking for applicants with a good credit score (FICO score of 700+), verifiable income (usually 3x the monthly rent), and good tenancy references.
